A story of Shweta’s artistic journey with ADVAYAA

In the small, serene town of Ambarnath, where days unfold with quiet grace and the rhythms of nature pulse in every breath, the journey of ADVAYAA took root. Here, under the gentle care of her maternal grandparents, Shweta Shirodkar’s path as an artist was first shaped. Her grandfather, Yashwant Dinanath Satghare, a master metal artist, could turn stone to poetry and give metal a voice, weaving stories into art with tools passed down through generations. In 1966, he earned the prestigious National Award from Rashtrapati Dr. Radhakrishnan, the first of its kind in Maharashtra—a recognition of his craft as a Master Craftsman, and a testament to his lifelong devotion to his art.
For Shweta, he was more than a grandfather; he was a magician whose hands transformed ordinary materials into timeless creations. From her earliest years, she followed him like a shadow, trailing behind him through bustling markets and quiet farms. She would watch as he selected materials, his hands steady, respectful, as if each piece of metal, wood, or clay held a life of its own. Her small hands would mimic his, clutching brushes and tools, her eyes wide as she learned the language of creation.
These moments, etched deep into her soul, were the foundation of her bond with nature and her reverence for creation itself. Her grandmother, a quiet and constant presence, was her first storyteller. She filled Shweta’s days with tales of family history, resilience, and faith—stories that would later become woven into her art, each brushstroke a bridge between past and present.
As Shweta grew, her journey led her to the Goa College of Art and later to JJ School of Arts, where she earned her post-graduate degree with merit. Yet, even in the structured halls of academia, her art remained deeply personal, unshaken by convention—a reflection of her roots, of the lineage and land she cherished. When she returned to Goa, its serene coastline called to her. The beaches, with their shifting sands and endless waves, mirrored the stories her grandparents had passed down. Her art took on the hues of the earth and sea, shades of blue and green, embodying the calmness, tranquility, and depth that had always surrounded her.
But her work was more than colors or forms; it was her story, her memories, and her ancestors’ spirits come to life. Each creation was unique, never recreated, a testament to her mother’s strength, her grandfather’s legacy, and the resilience coursing through her family. Her mother, Sandhya, was her unwavering anchor, reminding her that this lineage was one of love, courage, and quiet devotion.
Out of this legacy, ADVAYAA was born. In Sanskrit, “Advayaa” signifies uniqueness, which is there in her DNA —a name that captures her brand’s spirit and honors her grandfather’s timeless influence. Each piece she creates is a sacred vessel of her story, a fragment of her lineage, a journey captured in clay, metal, and wood. Parting with each creation is bittersweet, as though she is releasing a piece of her soul. But she knows her art is meant to live on beyond her, to find new homes and continue its journey with those who connect with its spirit, its textures, and its whispered tales.
ADVAYAA is more than a brand; it is Shweta’s offering, a journey she carved with her own hands, inspired by her family’s love, resilience, and devotion to the creative spirit. With each unique work, she celebrates the timeless beauty of her heritage, honoring her grandfather’s legacy as a Master Craftsman. Through her art, Shweta invites others into this sacred journey—a dance of creativity, storytelling, and reverence for all that endures.
